Best LLC services in Vermont (2026)
Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.
On our rating, Tailor Brands comes first for a Vermont LLC with a rating of 8.7; with Vermont's $155 filing fee added, its Elite plan costs $404 for the first year. The cheapest start is Inc Authority Free LLC at $155, exactly what the state charges. Vermont adds a $45 annual report every year, so the second-year totals here run from $45 to $344 on the compared plans.1
How are LLC services for Vermont ranked?
Our rating sets the order, highest first. Where two providers share a rating, editorial order decides which comes first.
The first-year column is the Vermont filing fee for the Articles of Organization plus the plan we compare. The second-year column is Vermont's $45 report fee plus any plan renewal. Trial items that bill later and agent renewals after a free period are left out of both.1
Bizee (formerly Incfile) and ZenBusiness share a rating of 8.0, as do BizFilings and Rocket Lawyer at 6.8. The rating's three parts (customer satisfaction, services and dashboard, and plan value) are national, so a provider's place doesn't change from state to state. How we rate gives the weights.

Second year: the recurring Vermont report fee as the state lists it (some states charge it every two years) plus the plan's renewal, if it renews. Registered agent renewals are extra unless the plan includes the agent for good.
Read the second-year column before the first. Plans with a one-time formation fee leave only the report fee there, so LegalZoom, Bizee (formerly Incfile) and Inc Authority each show $45; trial subscriptions, such as the one on LegalZoom's plan covered in the notes below, are not in that figure. Plans with a published yearly renewal add it on top: Tailor Brands Elite comes to $294, ZenBusiness Premium to $344 and Rocket Lawyer Standard membership to $194. doola also bills Starter yearly, but its recurring fees automatically renew at the rates then in effect, so doola doesn't publish a second-year price and the table's figure for it assumes today's price. Some yearly plans include annual report filing, which the notes below cover. The list ordered by first- and second-year cost applies this basis to every provider nationally.2
Which Vermont LLC service fits which need?
Each subsection names a need and the published facts that decide it. The picks shift with the reader, so start with the cost or service you care about most.
- Lowest first-year total in Vermont: Inc Authority, Free LLC, $155 with the state fee.
- Lowest two-year total in Vermont: Inc Authority, Free LLC, $200 over two years with state fees. Full list
- Fastest filing: Tailor Brands, 1 business day stated on Elite. Full list
- Best for first-time founders: Tailor Brands, all three supports included in a plan (annual report filing, coaching, AI guidance). Full list
- Best all-in-one platform: Tailor Brands, sells 9 of the 10 business service types we track, with an online dashboard. Full list
- Best for non-U.S. founders: Tailor Brands, highest-rated provider whose own pages say it serves founders outside the U.S. Full list
Each line is decided by the published fact it names. First-time founder support counts an annual report filed for you, business coaching and AI guidance; the all-in-one count is the business service types a provider sells nationally.
Lowest cost across the first and second year
Inc Authority Free LLC costs $155 in the first year and $45 in the second, the two Vermont state fees and nothing else. Its included agent is the catch: it renews at $249/year after the first year unless cancelled. Northwest Registered Agent starts at $194 with an agent that renews at $125/yr. Which of the two costs less by the end of year two depends on whether you keep the agent. The Inc Authority profile and the Northwest pricing page list what each charges after the first year.3, 4
First-time founders and the Vermont annual report
We count three supports here: an annual report filed for you, business coaching from a person, and AI guidance. Vermont makes the first one concrete, since the Secretary of State expects a report every year. Tailor Brands counts all three supports: mandatory report filing on Elite, its Business Coaching Program, and Navi, an AI assistant built into every plan. ZenBusiness also reaches all three supports by listing filing of state-required annual reports on Premium and Personal Velo AI guidance, with a one-on-one consultation, Premium only. doola has two of the three supports, its AI Co-Founder plus report filing on its higher plans, though Starter does not include ongoing compliance filings. The first-time founders list breaks down each support by provider.5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
Fastest stated filing
Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness state 1 business day on their compared plans, and Inc Authority states 24 hours. Vermont's own review of an online filing normally takes less than 1 business day, so in this state the provider's preparation can be most of the wait. Vermont doesn't publish a paid expedite option in the facts we hold, which makes a service's rush label worth questioning; Bizee (formerly Incfile) lists Expedited Filing in its compared plan without saying what that changes here. See the fastest services list.12, 13
One provider for later services
Of the 10 business service types we track, Tailor Brands and LegalZoom each sell 9, while Bizee (formerly Incfile) and ZenBusiness each sell 7. Selling a service is different from including it in a plan, so check the plan rows above. The all-in-one platforms list ranks every provider by this count.
Agent included, and for how long
Vermont's agent must be "an individual resident of this State" or a business with a place of business in Vermont that is authorized to do business there (11 V.S.A. § 1655), so an owner living elsewhere needs a service or a local contact.14
- doola lists the agent in Starter (RA free with Formation Service), on a plan billed yearly.15
- Bizee (formerly Incfile) gives one year of Registered Agent Service for free with any formation package, then charges $149/year.16, 17
- Northwest Registered Agent includes the first year, then charges $125/yr.4
- BizFilings gives 3 months free, then bills $220/yr.18, 19
The registered agent included list puts the plans with an agent side by side.
Founders outside the U.S.
Vermont lets the LLC's designated office for state notices sit outside the state, since the law says it "may but need not be located in this State". The agent still has to qualify in Vermont. doola states that it can help a non-resident without a US SSN, and BizFilings sells a Foreign Business U.S. Incorporation package ($389 + state fees). Tailor Brands links a separate sign-up flow for non-US citizens without publishing eligibility details, and Northwest Registered Agent charges $200 for an EIN when the owner has no Social Security number. The non-U.S. founders list orders them by rating.14, 20, 21, 22, 23
Which Vermont fees apply even with a service?
Two Vermont fees apply to every LLC: $155 for the Articles, then $45 for each yearly report. A service passes both through, and none of the compared plan prices covers them.1
- Formation filing fee: $155
- Recurring report: due within three months after the end of the LLC's fiscal year, $45
- Optional name reservation: $25 for 120 days
Because the report is due within three months after the end of the LLC's fiscal year, two Vermont LLCs with different fiscal years owe it in different months. A missed report can end the LLC's standing, and reinstatement costs $35 per year missed on top of the overdue reports and fees.1, 24
Vermont's business entity income tax is the other state cost no service removes. It applies to LLCs electing partnership or S-corporation treatment, and for those LLCs it is generally a $250 minimum tax. None of the totals on this page include it, and an accountant can say whether it reaches your LLC.25
Who files the Vermont annual report for you?
Vermont's recurring filing is a Secretary of State annual report, so plan items that promise annual report filing are the ones to compare here, although none of the provider facts below names Vermont. The open question is the $45 state fee.1
Some providers say plainly that the state fee is extra. Northwest Registered Agent files the report for $100 + state fees, and LegalZoom lists a one-time filing at $99 + state filing fees. doola files it on its higher plans with state fees paid by customer. Swyft Filings gives every plan a 14-day trial of ComplianceGuard, then $199/year auto-charged unless cancelled, and notes that the state fee applies.11, 26, 27, 28
Tailor Brands Elite lists mandatory report filing and ZenBusiness Premium lists filing of state-required annual reports, and neither publishes who pays the state fee. That is worth asking before counting on it.5, 8
Trial items change the second year too. Tailor Brands' bookkeeping trial bills $39/month after it ends unless cancelled, and LegalZoom lists that on Managed Service the Business Advisor Plan auto-renews at $49/mo after 30 days. The LegalZoom pricing page and the Tailor Brands profile show what each tier bills later.29, 30
Can you form a Vermont LLC without a service?
Yes, because Vermont takes filings straight from owners and reviews online ones fast. You file the Articles of Organization online (preferred, no extra fee), by mail, or by walk-in at 128 State Street, Montpelier, and pay only the $155 fee. Online review normally takes less than 1 business day; mail takes 7 to 10 business days.1, 12
Without a service, two tasks stay with you: finding an agent who qualifies in Vermont, and tracking an annual report date that follows your own fiscal year. The Vermont formation guide covers each filing, the cost calculator shows what a plan adds, and the DIY versus service guide weighs the trade-off. For neighboring states, see the New Hampshire services list and the Massachusetts services list.
Vermont LLC service questions
Is the Vermont filing fee part of a service's price?
No. The $155 goes to the state on top of the plan, even when the plan itself costs nothing. This page's first-year totals have it added already.1
What is the cheapest way to form a Vermont LLC with a service?
Inc Authority Free LLC totals $155 in the first year, equal to the state fee. Its agent renews at $249/year after that unless you cancel. Second-lowest is Northwest Registered Agent, at $194.3
Can a service handle the Vermont annual report?
Some do. Northwest Registered Agent charges $100 + state fees, LegalZoom lists $99 + state filing fees, and Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness include annual report filing in their compared plans, though neither names Vermont. The $45 state fee may still be billed to you, so check each provider's terms.1, 26, 27
How much does a Vermont LLC cost in the second year with a service?
Add the plan's renewal to the $45 report fee. Year two reaches $294 on Tailor Brands Elite and $45 on Inc Authority Free LLC; agent renewals and trial items come on top.1
Is paying for rush filing worth it in Vermont?
The state side is already short, since Vermont's online review normally takes less than 1 business day, and the state doesn't publish a paid expedite option. Ask any service what its rush fee speeds up before paying it.12
Can I use a service if I live outside Vermont?
Yes. The service's agent supplies the Vermont address the state requires, and the LLC's designated office can be outside the state. Check the Vermont formation guide for both address rules.
