LegalZoom sells three LLC plans: Basic at $0, Managed Service at $249 and Expert Service at $299, each paid once and each before the state filing fee. The two paid plans include a monthly service plan free for a trial; it then bills $49/mo on Managed Service or $99/mo on Expert Service until you cancel. None of the plans lists a registered agent; LegalZoom sells one separately at $249/year for first-time registered agent customers.1, 2
Each plan is a one-time formation fee, and no price shown includes what the state charges to file.
The cards below list every item LegalZoom names for each tier. A clock marks items that are free only for the trial.

Basic covers the state filing and a name check, plus a partner tax consult, a welcome packet and an insurance quote. It has no EIN (the federal tax ID a bank asks for) and no operating agreement. Bought later from LegalZoom, the EIN is $79 and an operating agreement starts at $99, so a Basic order that adds both costs more than the $0 headline.1, 3, 4
Managed Service adds the EIN, the operating agreement, a licenses and permits report and a website builder, and keeps them. On top of that come four items that run only for the trial: the legal forms library, eSignature, business advisors, and an advisor's review of your filing. LegalZoom notes that this review is not an attorney review.
Expert Service keeps everything in Managed Service. The extra money buys attorney and accountant access, an attorney review of the filing, contract reviews, tax preparation, bookkeeping and a monthly copyright registration. Every one of those extras sits inside the trial, so none of them continues unless the monthly plan does. The contract reviews have a page cap too: "Up to 10 pages included for document reviews".1
Our rating compares Managed Service, its fullest plan within our price cap, counting items included for good (4 of the services we count). That plan rates 8.1 out of ten; how we rate explains the parts.
The formation fee never renews, so Basic has no LegalZoom charge in year two unless you add a service. On the paid plans, year two depends on whether you kept the monthly plan.
Any agent or report service you bought adds to that.
The trial ends after 30 days, and LegalZoom then charges the card on file without a new order. That charge is the Business Advisor Plan at $49/mo on Managed Service, or the Expert Service Plan at $99/mo on Expert Service. LegalZoom labels the first "cancel anytime" and the second "cancel anytime", and its plan cards tie the trial items to that monthly plan.1
Across the first and second year, our figure for Managed Service is $249 before state fees, and it assumes the monthly plan is cancelled inside the trial. Keep it and each month adds its fee. A full year of either monthly plan costs more than the formation fee paid to start.
Registered agent service renews too. LegalZoom says the service "auto-renews at the purchase rate each year until you cancel", and adds that the rate may change, so the agent line repeats every year you keep it.2
A LegalZoom comparison page lists expedited processing at $99, which gets formation documents submitted to the state in as little as one business day.5
That page still uses LegalZoom's older plan names, and the current pricing page does not say whether Basic, Managed Service or Expert Service includes it or charges for it.
The same comparison page gives standard processing as 5 to 14 business days, without tying that time to any current plan. LegalZoom adds that "these are service processing times, not state approval times". The state's own review comes after that, and a state may charge its own expedite fee as well. Our guide to how long LLC approval takes covers that part.5
None of the three plan cards lists a registered agent, so it is a separate line on the bill. The price is $249/year, offered to first-time registered agent customers, and it renews yearly as described above.2
The agent service includes reminders but not the filing itself. Agent customers get "reminders when tax and annual report deadlines are approaching", and nothing more is promised for the report. Having LegalZoom file the annual report is a separate charge of $99 per filing, plus the state fee, and it bills once rather than renewing.2, 6
Refunds for the agent service are narrow. The agent terms promise a refund of prepaid fees for the current term when LegalZoom ends the service. LegalZoom's general guarantee covers subscriptions cancelled within 30 days of initial subscription purchase, and it does not say whether that window applies to the agent.7
No. LegalZoom quotes Basic, Managed Service and Expert Service each with state filing fees added on top, and what the state charges depends on where you form.
The median state LLC filing fee across the states we track is $100. The state fee table has every state, and the cost calculator adds a plan and a state together.
Recurring state charges, such as an annual report fee or franchise tax, are also outside every plan. LegalZoom's report service files for you but passes the state fee through.

The plan fee is $0, but the state filing fee is still charged, and it varies by state. Basic also leaves out the EIN and operating agreement, which LegalZoom sells for $79 and from $99. See what an LLC costs in total for the state side.1, 3, 4
The monthly plan that came with your order starts billing after 30 days. It is $49/mo for Managed Service and $99/mo for Expert Service, charged to the card you paid with. Cancelling ends the trial items, such as the forms library and advisor or attorney access.1
Not as part of any LLC plan. The registered agent service sends deadline reminders, and filing is a separate $99 service plus the state's fee.6
It is $249/year for first-time agent customers, sold apart from the formation plans. It renews automatically each year at the rate you paid, which LegalZoom says is subject to change.2
LegalZoom's general guarantee allows subscription refunds within 30 days of initial subscription purchase. It does not say whether that covers the registered agent service, whose own terms refund only when LegalZoom ends the service.7
