Best LLC services in Iowa (2026)
Facts checked October 13 to 16, 2026.
Tailor Brands ranks first on our rating for an Iowa LLC (8.7 out of ten), and its Elite plan totals $299 in year one with the $50 state fee. Inc Authority has the lowest first-year total at $50, the state fee alone, but its free agent renews at $249/year. Iowa's recurring filing is a biennial report due in odd-numbered years, so a plan that bills for report filing every year charges you in a year Iowa asks for nothing.1, 2
How are LLC services for Iowa ranked?
Providers appear in order of our rating, highest first. Where two share a rating, our editorial order decides (Tailor Brands, Bizee, ZenBusiness, then by name).
Every row carries the same $50 filing fee, so the gaps between first-year figures come from the plans. The table adds that Certificate of Organization fee to the plan we compare for each provider. It doesn't count items that start billing once a trial ends.1
The rating combines customer satisfaction, services and dashboard, and plan value, and no part of it changes from state to state. That is why Bizee (formerly Incfile) and ZenBusiness tie at 8.0 here as they do everywhere, as do BizFilings and Rocket Lawyer at 6.8. How we rate sets out the weights.

Second year: the recurring Iowa report fee as the state lists it (some states charge it every two years) plus the plan's renewal, if it renews. Registered agent renewals are extra unless the plan includes the agent for good.
The second-year column adds the $30 online biennial report fee once, plus any plan renewal. Iowa's report comes due only in odd-numbered years, so each back-to-back pair of years holds a single report, though it may fall in your first year rather than your second. Plans with no renewal, such as Inc Authority Free LLC and Northwest Registered Agent's formation, show only that report fee in year two, so both come to $30. Plans billed yearly show their renewal on top: Tailor Brands Elite comes to $279 and ZenBusiness Premium to $329. Agent renewals after a free period are left out of every row, and the list ordered by cost over both years ranks providers on that longer view.1
Which Iowa LLC service fits which need?
The picks below come from the published facts for each category, with Iowa's fees added where a total is involved. Under them, each subsection names the fact that decides the pick and where Iowa's rules change the picture.
- Lowest first-year total in Iowa: Inc Authority, Free LLC, $50 with the state fee.
- Lowest two-year total in Iowa: Inc Authority, Free LLC, $80 over two years with state fees. Full list
- Fastest filing: Tailor Brands, 1 business day stated on Elite. Full list
- Best for first-time founders: Tailor Brands, all three supports included in a plan (annual report filing, coaching, AI guidance). Full list
- Best all-in-one platform: Tailor Brands, sells 9 of the 10 business service types we track, with an online dashboard. Full list
- Best for non-U.S. founders: Tailor Brands, highest-rated provider whose own pages say it serves founders outside the U.S. Full list
Each line is decided by the published fact it names. First-time founder support counts an annual report filed for you, business coaching and AI guidance; the all-in-one count is the business service types a provider sells nationally.
Lowest cost in the first and second year
Inc Authority Free LLC costs $50 in year one and $30 in year two in Iowa, the state's fees and nothing else. The part those totals don't show is the registered agent. It comes free for the first year, then renews by itself at $249/year, which is more than the state fees in both years combined. Its refund terms are a 60-day money-back guarantee on initial online purchase, less state/third-party filing fees.2, 3
Iowa makes leaving that renewal cheap. Changing agents takes a Statement of Change, and Iowa's fee schedule reads No fee for an LLC, so the only cost of switching is the new agent's price. Northwest Registered Agent is next on first-year cost at $89, and its included agent renews at $125/yr. The Inc Authority profile lists what its free plan leaves out.1, 4
Fastest stated filing
Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness each state 1 business day on their compared plans, and Inc Authority states 24 hours. Those times cover the provider's own work. Iowa then reviews the filing on its own schedule, and the Secretary of State doesn't publish a standard time for that. Iowa does sell faster turnaround per document, from 5 business days $15 to one hour $200, which a reader in a hurry can weigh against a service's speed claim. The fastest services list compares stated times.5
First-time founders
We count three supports for a first company: an annual report filed for you, business coaching from a person, and AI guidance. Tailor Brands includes all three supports in a plan, with mandatory report filing on Essential and Elite, its Business Coaching Program, and Navi, an AI assistant built into every plan. ZenBusiness also has all three supports: filing of state-required annual reports on Pro and Premium, Personal Velo AI guidance, and a one-on-one consultation, Premium only. doola offers an AI Co-Founder assistant and report filing on higher plans, though Starter does not include ongoing compliance filing.6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
In Iowa the report those plans file comes due only in odd-numbered years, so a yearly plan pays for report filing in years when nothing is due. The first-time founders list shows each provider's supports.1
One provider for what comes after formation
This category counts business service types sold, such as bookkeeping, a website, a business address or legal documents. Of the 10 we track, Tailor Brands and LegalZoom each sell 9, while Bizee (formerly Incfile) and ZenBusiness each sell 7. Some are sold as add-ons or start as trials rather than plan items, so check the all-in-one list and each plan's contents before counting on them.
Registered agent in the plan
Every Iowa LLC needs an agent that must have a place of business in this state (Iowa Code § 489.115). A few compared plans include one for a while, and the time limits differ.13
- Bizee (formerly Incfile): Free first year with any Bizee formation package, then $149/year.14, 15
- BizFilings: 3 months free, then $220/yr.16, 17
- Northwest Registered Agent: the first year, then $125/yr.4
- doola: Registered Agent Service in Starter, which renews yearly with the renewal price not stated.18, 19
Tailor Brands sells its agent on its own at $199/year. The registered agent included list puts the plans side by side.20
EIN in the plan
An EIN is the federal tax ID, and the IRS never charges a fee for an EIN. LegalZoom lists EIN (federal tax ID) in Managed Service, Bizee (formerly Incfile) lists Federal Tax ID (EIN) in Premium, ZenBusiness lists an EIN in Premium, and doola lists an Employer Identification Number (EIN) in Starter. See the EIN included list.10, 18, 21, 22, 23
Founders outside the U.S.
Tailor Brands links a separate sign-up flow for non-US citizens from its LLC formation page. doola says it can help a non-resident without a US SSN, and its Starter plan includes a US business address. LegalZoom lists an EIN without a Social Security number as included in Pro and Premium on a page for founders abroad, plan names that differ from the Managed Service plan we compare. The non-U.S. founders list has the rest.24, 25, 26, 27
What does Iowa charge no matter who files?
Iowa charges the same fees whether the owner or a service files: the $50 filing fee, any name hold or expedite surcharge, and the biennial report fee.1
The totals on this page add them on top of every plan price.
- Formation filing fee: $50
- Faster state processing: Surcharge per document on top of the filing fee: 5 business days $15; 2 business days $50; same business day $125; one hour $200
- Recurring report: due every two years (odd-numbered years), due by April 1, $30 online, $45 by paper
- Optional name reservation: $10
Iowa's expedite surcharge buys faster turnaround from the state itself. The middle tiers are 2 business days $50 and same business day $125, and the state says the surcharge is per document and nonrefundable. Bizee (formerly Incfile) lists Expedited Filing in its compared plan without saying whether that pays an Iowa surcharge, so ask any service what its rush option buys before paying for both.5, 23
The report fee is the other cost no service removes. It is $30 online or $45 by paper, due by April 1 in odd-numbered years, and the per-filing prices below are quoted plus state fees.1
Which report-filing prices suit Iowa's biennial cycle?
Iowa asks for a report only every other year, so it helps to know whether a service bills per filing or per year.
Per-filing prices only land in a report year. Northwest Registered Agent charges $100 + state fees, charged at filing, and LegalZoom lists $99 + state filing fees, bills once. InCorp Services lists $89 + state fees without publishing whether that is per report or per year. Yearly prices keep running in the off year. Swyft Filings sells ComplianceGuard $199/year, and the plans that include report filing (Tailor Brands Elite at $249/yr, ZenBusiness Premium renewing at $299/yr) bill every year whether or not Iowa wants a report.6, 10, 28, 29, 30, 31
Trials also add to year two. Tailor Brands Elite includes a bookkeeping trial that then bills $39/month, and LegalZoom lists for its Managed Service plan that the Business Advisor Plan auto-renews at $49/mo after 30 days. The LegalZoom pricing page and the Tailor Brands pricing page list each later charge.22, 32
Is filing an Iowa LLC yourself enough?
It can be, since Iowa takes the Certificate of Organization straight from the owner through Fast Track Filing or on paper for $50. A service adds preparation and, depending on the plan, an agent, an EIN or an operating agreement.1
Filing alone leaves two jobs with you. The first is an agent with a place of business in Iowa, and that can be you if your business is located there. The second is the report in odd-numbered years, which is easy to forget after a long gap. The Iowa formation guide covers each filing, and the cost calculator shows what a plan adds to the state fees.1
Iowa LLC service questions
Is the Iowa state fee included in a service's price?
No. Each plan we compare adds the $50 Iowa filing fee on top of its own price. The first-year totals on this page already include it, which is why Inc Authority's total of $50 equals the state fee.1
Which service has the lowest cost for an Iowa LLC?
Inc Authority Free LLC, at $50 in year one and $30 in year two with state fees. Its agent then renews at $249/year unless you cancel or switch. Northwest Registered Agent comes next in year one at $89.2
Do I need a service that files the Iowa biennial report?
Not necessarily. The report is due by April 1 in odd-numbered years and costs $30 online if you file it yourself. A per-filing service charges only when a report is due, while a yearly plan bills in the off year too.1
Can a service get Iowa to approve my LLC faster?
A service controls only its own preparation time. Iowa's faster turnaround is a state surcharge per document, from 5 business days $15 to one hour $200, and it isn't refunded. Ask whether a plan's rush option pays that surcharge.5
What does a second year cost with a service in Iowa?
It is the plan's renewal, if any, plus the $30 online report fee when your second year is a report year. With Tailor Brands Elite that comes to $279. Agent renewals after a free period and trial items come on top.1
Can I name a different registered agent after forming with a service?
Yes. For an LLC, Iowa's fee schedule lists the Statement of Change as No fee, so switching agents costs only the new agent's price. The Iowa formation guide explains the order of steps.1
