Rocket Lawyer alternatives for forming an LLC (2026)
Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.
Rocket Lawyer forms an LLC inside a yearly membership, so its Standard membership ($149/year ($12.41/month, billed yearly)) costs $298 across the first and second year before state fees, publishes no filing time, and sells its agent only to Plus and Pro members. Among the other services on our list, a one-time fee such as Inc Authority's ($0 for Free LLC) comes in lower across the first and second year on our plan figures. For a published turnaround, Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness state 1 business day; for an agent with no tier rule, Bizee, Northwest, Inc Authority and doola include agent service with formation (Bizee, Northwest and Inc Authority for the first year only).1
Why do people look for a Rocket Lawyer alternative?
Most reasons trace back to one design choice: Rocket Lawyer is a legal membership that includes LLC filing, while most providers we compare sell formation as the product.
That choice shows up in six published facts.
- The membership bills every year. Standard is $149/year ($12.41/month, billed yearly) after a free 7-day trial, and the free registration requires a current membership.1
- No processing time and no rush option are published for any tier.
- The registered agent costs $125 a year, and its price block reads "Requires Rocket Lawyer Plus or Pro membership."2
- The EIN service is $70, and the pricing page shows it as "Not included" on Standard.3
- Annual report filing is sold only to Pro members, at $100 with Pro membership.4
- Its Trustpilot score, 4.5 / 5, sits below several rivals.5
Points three to five stack. A Standard member who decides after formation to use Rocket Lawyer as agent and to get the EIN through it must first move to Plus at $249/year ($20.75/month, billed yearly), then pay for each add-on, and the membership and agent both renew the next year.1
The Rocket Lawyer review covers each point in full, and the Rocket Lawyer pricing page adds up the tiers by year.
How do the Rocket Lawyer alternatives compare?

A one-time fee instead of a yearly membership
Any provider whose formation fee is charged once pulls ahead of a renewing membership by the second year, and several also start lower. Inc Authority's Free LLC totals $0 for the plan, though its registered agent auto-renews at $249/yr after year 1. Northwest charges $39 + state fees, though its included registered agent renews at $125/yr after year 1, and Swyft Filings lists $199 for Standard with renewal shown as None (one-time). LegalZoom lists Managed Service at $249 with the formation fee charged once, though its Business Advisor Plan auto-renews at $49/mo after 30 days. Every plan sorted by that combined figure is on the lowest cost over the first and second year list.6, 7, 8, 9, 10
A stated filing time
Rocket Lawyer gives no turnaround, which leaves a founder with a bank or lease deadline guessing. Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness both state 1 business day for the plan we rate, Inc Authority states 24 hours, and doola 1 to 2 business days. Each figure covers the provider's own preparation, with state review added afterward; the LLC timeline guide breaks that down, and the fastest filing list ranks every plan by it.
An agent without upgrading
A Standard member can't buy Rocket Lawyer's agent at all. Bizee's Premium bundles one (1st year included). Northwest's formation names registered agent service free for first year, priced at $125 per year once that year ends, and Inc Authority's free plan carries a similar opening year. doola's Starter puts Registered Agent Service into the yearly fee. For each provider's agent terms, open the list of plans with an agent included; Northwest vs Rocket Lawyer pairs two providers that list the same yearly agent price.7, 11, 12, 13
Annual reports filed without a top tier
Rocket Lawyer files reports only for Pro members, priced per report at $100 with Pro membership. Tailor Brands Elite lists mandatory report filing in the plan, and ZenBusiness Premium lists filing of state-required annual reports while the plan renews at $299/yr. On the three first-time-founder supports we count (report filing, coaching from a person and AI guidance), Rocket Lawyer's compared plan includes one of the three supports; Tailor Brands includes all three supports, adding a Business coaching program, and ZenBusiness matches it with all three supports. The first-time founders list shows each plan's supports, and ZenBusiness vs Rocket Lawyer goes deeper on one pair.4, 14, 15, 16
An EIN in the price
Rocket Lawyer's EIN service is an add-on that Standard members can't buy. doola's Starter lists an Employer Identification Number (EIN), Bizee Premium lists a Federal Tax ID (EIN), and ZenBusiness Pro lists an EIN. The EIN included list covers the rest.11, 13, 16
More counted services, more service types
Rocket Lawyer's compared plan keeps 4 of the services our method counts for good, two of them legal help. Three alternatives keep more: 7 on Tailor Brands Elite, 6 on ZenBusiness Premium, 5 on Bizee Premium. On business service types sold, Rocket Lawyer has 5 of the 10 we track, against 9 for Tailor Brands and 9 for LegalZoom. The all-in-one platforms list and package contents guide explain the counts.
A higher Trustpilot score
Rocket Lawyer's Trustpilot score is 4.5 / 5. Several alternatives sit above it: Inc Authority at 4.9 / 5, then Bizee (4.8 / 5), Tailor Brands (4.8 / 5) and ZenBusiness (4.8 / 5), with Swyft Filings at 4.7 and LegalZoom at 4.6. Reviews feed one part of our rating, so a high score alone doesn't lift a provider far: Inc Authority still rates 7.1.5, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22
Founders outside the United States
Our record holds no Rocket Lawyer statement on non-resident owners. Three alternatives publish something concrete. doola's site addresses the non-resident without a US SSN; Northwest charges $200 to get an EIN for an owner without a Social Security number; BizFilings sells a dedicated Foreign Business U.S. Incorporation package. The non-U.S. founders list compares them.23, 24, 25
What do you give up by leaving Rocket Lawyer?
Mostly lawyer access: attorney questions, live attorney calls on Plus and Pro, contract review and a document library come with the membership.
Among the alternatives, only LegalZoom and Swyft Filings list attorney consultations in a plan, and both limit them in time.
LegalZoom lists unlimited 30-minute attorney consultations on Expert Service, which comes with a monthly plan; its Expert Service Plan auto-renews at $99/mo after 30 days. Swyft Filings lists "Unlimited attorney consultations" on its $299 plan, which our record treats as a trial, with legal access shown as 2 months free. A reader who mainly wants a lawyer on call may find that Rocket Lawyer still fits, and the LegalZoom vs Rocket Lawyer comparison sets the two legal-help models side by side.8, 10
Switching also leaves the LLC in place: it exists with the state whoever filed it. If Rocket Lawyer is your agent, its terms say the service must be canceled prior to the renewal date to avoid recurring annual charges, and you must file change-of-agent paperwork with the state naming the new agent.26
