Best LLC services in Virginia (2026)

Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.

On our rating, Tailor Brands ranks first for a Virginia LLC with a score of 8.7, and its Elite plan totals $349 in year one with the $100 SCC filing fee, then $299 in year two. Inc Authority has the lowest totals, $100 and then $50, but its free registered agent renews at $249/year after the first year. Every Virginia LLC also owes a $50 annual registration fee, first due by the last day of the 12th month after the month of organization.1, 2, 3

How are LLC services for Virginia ranked?

The table follows our rating from highest to lowest, and providers with equal ratings appear in our editorial order.

For each provider, the year-one column is the price of the plan we compare plus Virginia's $100 fee for the Articles of Organization. The year-two column is that plan's renewal, if it has one, plus the $50 registration fee. Because Virginia's yearly charge is a flat fee, both columns can be totaled for this state.1, 3

Two pairs share a rating. Bizee (formerly Incfile) and ZenBusiness both sit at 8.0, and BizFilings and Rocket Lawyer both sit at 6.8. The rating blends customer satisfaction, services and dashboard, and plan value, and none of those parts changes by state, as how we rate explains.

Ordered by our rating, highest first; ties in our editorial order. Totals add the Virginia state fees to each provider's compared plan.

Second year: the recurring Virginia report fee as the state lists it (some states charge it every two years) plus the plan's renewal, if it renews. Registered agent renewals are extra unless the plan includes the agent for good.

A low year-two figure can hide a bill. The column leaves out a registered agent once a free period ends, and Virginia requires an LLC to keep one at all times. So a plan showing only the $50 state fee in year two usually means an agent renewal on top, or a switch to another agent. Plans that renew in full are already counted. Tailor Brands Elite comes to $498 across both years before state fees and ZenBusiness Premium to $598. The doola Starter figure of $594 repeats today's $297/yr price, because doola publishes no renewal price and says recurring fees renew at the rates then in effect. The ranking by combined first- and second-year cost applies the same arithmetic nationally.3, 4, 5

Which Virginia LLC service fits which need?

The picks below each rest on one published fact, so a provider can lead one category and trail in another.

Each line is decided by the published fact it names. First-time founder support counts an annual report filed for you, business coaching and AI guidance; the all-in-one count is the business service types a provider sells nationally.

Lowest cost once the agent is counted

Inc Authority Free LLC costs $100 in Virginia, which is the SCC filing fee alone, and $50 the year after. Its agent then renews at $249/year, and its cancellation terms note the provider may require proof of new agent or dissolution. Northwest Registered Agent starts higher at $139, but its agent renews at $125/yr. Bizee (formerly Incfile) Premium is $399 with a free first year of agent service, then $149/year. Which of those is cheapest by the second year depends on whether you keep the bundled agent. The Inc Authority profile and Northwest profile show the full terms, and the cheapest services list gives the national order.2, 6, 7, 8

Fastest stated filing

Tailor Brands states 1 business day on its compared plan, ZenBusiness states 1 business day, and Inc Authority states 24 hours. Those times cover only the provider's side. Once the Articles reach the SCC, the Commission reviews them on its own clock, and regular filings there are usually processed within 3 to 5 business days. Virginia's faster options, Expedited (generally filed by 4:00 p.m. next business day) and Same Day service (organizational documents received by noon), are requested with the Expedited Service Request Form SCC21.2 and cost extra. The fastest stated filing list and the LLC timeline guide separate the two waits.9

First-time founders

We count three supports for someone forming a first company: an annual report filed for them, coaching from a person, and AI guidance. Tailor Brands includes all three supports: mandatory report filing on Essential and Elite, its Business Coaching Program on every plan, and Navi, its AI assistant; in its words, "Every plan comes with Navi built in." ZenBusiness includes all three supports, with Personal Velo AI guidance on every plan, filing of state-required annual reports on Pro and Premium, and a one-on-one consultation with a business advisor on Premium only. Virginia has no annual report, though; its recurring step is the registration fee, so check whether report filing covers that payment (see the notes below). The first-time founders list compares every provider on the three supports.10, 11, 12, 13, 14

One provider for formation and later services

Tailor Brands sells 9 of the 10 business service types we track, and ZenBusiness sells 7. A service type being on sale doesn't put it in a plan; many are add-ons or trials. The all-in-one platforms list ranks providers by this count.

Registered agent and EIN in the plan

doola Starter lists Registered Agent Service and an Employer Identification Number (EIN) in the plan itself, so its year-two figure counts the agent, at today's plan price. ZenBusiness Premium lists an EIN, and LegalZoom lists EIN (federal tax ID) in Managed Service. BizFilings includes only 3 months free of agent service, then $220/yr, so its agent bill can arrive inside the first year. See the registered agent included list and the EIN included list.4, 13, 15, 16, 17

Founders outside the U.S.

doola says it can help a non-resident without a US SSN. Tailor Brands links a sign-up flow for non-US citizens from its formation page without eligibility details. LegalZoom's page for Australian founders says it gets an EIN from the IRS without the need for a Social Security Number. The non-U.S. founders list covers the rest.18, 19, 20

What does Virginia charge no matter who files?

Virginia charges the $100 filing fee and the $50 annual registration fee whoever prepares the paperwork, and the totals on this page add both to each plan price.1, 3

The expedite line has no dollar figure because our record of the SCC's expedite page doesn't capture the amounts. Bizee (formerly Incfile) lists Expedited Filing in Premium, and our record of that item doesn't say whether it pays for SCC Expedited service. Ask a provider whether its rush option buys the state's faster review or only speeds up its own preparation.21

The registration fee is the cost no service removes. It is due by the last day of the month in which the LLC was organized, a late payment draws a $25 penalty, and an LLC still unpaid on the last day of the third month after the due date has its existence canceled.3, 22

Who pays the Virginia registration fee, and who gets the bill?

Our Virginia record notes that the SCC mails the fee assessment to the registered agent two months before the due date. So an agent's notice handling affects whether that one recurring charge is paid on time, alongside its price.22

Several plans list a compliance filing, worded for annual reports. Tailor Brands Elite lists mandatory report filing, ZenBusiness Premium covers state-required annual reports, and doola keeps that filing for its Tax and Compliance plan and above. Northwest Registered Agent sells a report service at $100 + state fees, charged at filing. None of these items, as we record them, mentions Virginia, where the yearly obligation is a fee, so ask whether the provider pays it for you or only reminds you.10, 14, 23, 24

Trial items add to the bill if they run past the trial. Tailor Brands Elite includes bookkeeping that bills $39/month after its trial, LegalZoom lists a charge on Managed Service that auto-renews at $49/mo after 30 days, and every Swyft Filings plan starts a 14-day trial of ComplianceGuard, then $199/year. The LegalZoom pricing page and the Swyft Filings pricing page list each later charge.15, 25, 26

Is filing a Virginia LLC yourself enough?

Often, yes. You can file the Articles of Organization (Form LLC-1011) yourself through SCC eFile or on a paper form and pay only the $100 fee. A service adds preparation and sometimes an agent, EIN or operating agreement, at its own price.1, 27, 28

Doing it yourself means appointing an agent, since the LLC shall continuously maintain in the Commonwealth a registered office and agent (Va. Code § 13.1-1015). If that agent is you, the SCC's yearly assessment comes to you as well. The Virginia formation guide covers each SCC filing, and the cost calculator shows what a plan adds in each year.29

Virginia LLC service questions

Do Virginia LLC services include the SCC filing fee?

No. Each plan here adds Virginia's $100 filing fee on top of its price, including the plans with no service fee. The totals on this page include it, which is why Inc Authority's first-year total of $100 is the state fee and nothing else.1

What is the cheapest way to form an LLC in Virginia?

Filing yourself costs the $100 state fee, the same as Inc Authority's first-year total. The difference shows up later, when its agent renews at $249/year. Northwest Registered Agent costs more at the start ($139) and renews its agent at $125/yr.1, 2, 7

Will a service pay my Virginia annual registration fee?

The plan items we record don't say. Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness list annual report filing in their compared plans, but Virginia collects a $50 fee instead of a report. Ask the provider before you count on it, since a late payment draws a $25 penalty.3, 22

Can a service get my Virginia LLC approved faster?

A service can shorten its own preparation, and the SCC sells Expedited and Same Day service for an extra fee. Regular SCC filings are usually processed within 3 to 5 business days. Ask whether a provider's rush option includes the state's fee.9

What does a Virginia LLC cost in year two with a service?

The plan's renewal, if any, plus the $50 registration fee and any agent renewal. Tailor Brands Elite comes to $299 in year two and doola Starter to $347 if its $297/yr price holds, since doola renews at the rates then in effect. Plans that don't renew show $50, before any agent.3, 4, 5

Should I reserve a Virginia LLC name before choosing a service?

You can. The SCC reserves a name for $10, which holds it while you compare services. It is optional and separate from any plan price.28
