Best LLC services in Minnesota (2026)

Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.

On our rating, Tailor Brands ranks first for a Minnesota LLC at 8.7 out of ten, and its Elite plan totals $384 in year one with the $135 by mail state fee. Inc Authority has the lowest first-year total, $135, which is the state fee alone. Because Minnesota charges $0 for its Annual Renewal, the second year costs only what a plan or registered agent renews at.1, 2

How are LLC services for Minnesota ranked?

Providers appear in order of our rating, highest first. When two share a rating, they keep our editorial order: Tailor Brands, Bizee (formerly Incfile), ZenBusiness, then by name.

Minnesota sets two prices for the same Articles of Organization, $135 by mail, $155 online or in person. The first-year column uses the lower mail price, so a filing made online adds the difference. No provider publishes which method it uses for Minnesota.1

Ordered by our rating, highest first; ties in our editorial order. Totals add the Minnesota state fees to each provider's compared plan.

Second year: the recurring Minnesota report fee as the state lists it (some states charge it every two years) plus the plan's renewal, if it renews. Registered agent renewals are extra unless the plan includes the agent for good.

Because the state renewal is free, each second-year figure is just what the compared plan renews at. Most plans are one-time charges and show $0. The exceptions bill every year: Tailor Brands Elite comes to $249, ZenBusiness Premium to $299, doola Starter to $297, and Rocket Lawyer to $149.2

Those figures leave out an included registered agent that renews after a free period, and plan items that start billing once a trial ends; both come up below. The two ties in the list are Bizee (formerly Incfile) with ZenBusiness at 8.0, and BizFilings with Rocket Lawyer at 6.8. How we rate sets out the three parts of the rating, none of which changes by state.

Which Minnesota LLC service fits which need?

The picks below come from the facts each provider publishes. Two Minnesota rules bear on them: the agent is optional, and the yearly filing costs nothing at the state.

Each line is decided by the published fact it names. First-time founder support counts an annual report filed for you, business coaching and AI guidance; the all-in-one count is the business service types a provider sells nationally.

Lowest cost in the first and second year

Inc Authority Free LLC costs $135 in year one and $0 in year two in the table. Its included registered agent is the catch: it is free for the first year and then renews at $249/year.3

Minnesota law says "Every limited liability company shall have a registered office and may have a registered agent." So a Minnesota owner can let that agent go instead of paying the renewal, as long as the LLC keeps a registered office. Inc Authority's terms say cancelling may require proof of new agent or dissolution, and a Minnesota LLC dropping its agent has neither, so ask what it will accept before the renewal date. Its 60-day money-back guarantee covers only the first purchase. Compare it on the Inc Authority pricing page and the list ordered by cost across both years.4, 5

Northwest Registered Agent has the next-lowest first-year total, $174, with an agent that renews at $125/yr after year 1.6

First-time founders

We look for three supports here: the yearly state filing done for you, coaching from a person, and AI guidance. Tailor Brands includes all three supports in a plan. Its Elite plan lists mandatory report filing, its Business Coaching Program comes with any plan, and its Navi assistant is built into every plan. ZenBusiness also counts all three supports, with state-required annual reports on Pro and Premium, Personal Velo AI guidance on every plan, and a one-on-one consultation with a business advisor on Premium only. doola reaches two of the three supports through its AI Co-Founder assistant and report filing on higher plans; Starter does not include ongoing compliance filings.7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13

In Minnesota the filing these plans cover is the free Annual Renewal, so the support saves time and a missed deadline rather than a state fee. The first-time founders list shows each provider's supports.

Several business services from one provider

We track 10 business service types. Tailor Brands and LegalZoom each sell 9, while Bizee (formerly Incfile) and ZenBusiness each sell 7. A provider selling a service doesn't mean the plan includes it, and many are add-ons. See the all-in-one platforms list.

Fastest stated filing

Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness each state 1 business day on the compared plan, and Inc Authority states 24 hours. That is the provider's own preparation time. After it, Minnesota's clock starts: online filings are returned in 3 to 5 business days, while mail runs first in/first out with no published time. Expedited service is built into in-person and online filings, and the state doesn't publish a separate rush fee on top. Bizee (formerly Incfile) lists Expedited Filing in its compared plan without saying which Minnesota method that means. The fastest filing list and the LLC timeline guide separate the two waits.14, 15, 16

Registered agent included

These compared plans include an agent, most for a set period.

Tailor Brands sells its agent separately at $199/year, and ZenBusiness offers 50% off the first year ($99) with formation. Since Minnesota makes the agent optional, an included agent is mainly useful to an owner who doesn't want a home address as the registered office. The registered agent included list compares the terms.23, 24

EIN included

An EIN is the federal tax number the IRS issues at no charge. LegalZoom lists EIN (federal tax ID) in Managed Service, ZenBusiness lists EIN in Premium, and doola lists Employer Identification Number (EIN) in Starter. The EIN included list orders them by plan price.11, 22, 25

Founders outside the U.S.

doola says it can help "a non-resident without a US SSN." LegalZoom lists an EIN without a Social Security number as included in Pro and Premium. Tailor Brands links a separate sign-up flow for non-US citizens, with no eligibility details published, and Northwest Registered Agent charges $200 for an EIN when the owner has no Social Security number. The non-U.S. founders list has the rest.26, 27, 28, 29

What does Minnesota charge no matter who files?

Minnesota charges $135 by mail or $155 online or in person for the Articles, whoever files them, and the totals on this page add that fee to each plan price. The yearly renewal after that is $0.1, 2

The gap between the two prices pays for the expedited handling the state builds into online and counter filing. A service that files online for you either pays the higher fee or passes it on, and none of the providers here says which.

One state charge falls outside any service. The Department of Revenue says "An LLC filing as a partnership with two or more members is subject to minimum fee," which applies once the LLC's Minnesota property, payroll and sales reach $1,280,000. The minimum fee does not apply to a single-member LLC. That is a tax question for an accountant, not something a formation plan changes.30

Is a paid annual report service worth it in Minnesota?

A report filing service charges for its own work, and in Minnesota that work is all you pay for. The Annual Renewal is due December 31 each year, starting the year after formation, and the state fee is $0.2, 31

That changes how some prices read. Northwest Registered Agent's report service is $100 + state fees, charged at filing, and its registered agent customers are auto-enrolled in that renewal service. A Minnesota owner who keeps Northwest as agent would pay that charge for a filing the state accepts for free, unless they cancel that service first. ZenBusiness sells Annual Report Filing $100 per report on its own, and LegalZoom lists $99 + state filing fees. Among the compared plans, Tailor Brands Elite and ZenBusiness Premium fold report filing into their yearly price, and Swyft Filings Standard includes a Trial of ComplianceGuard with one free annual report.32, 33, 34, 35

No late fee applies to a missed renewal, but the LLC is administratively dissolved. The Minnesota formation guide covers that and the reinstatement route.36

Trial items are the other cost to watch. Tailor Brands Elite includes a bookkeeping trial that later bills $39/month, and LegalZoom lists that its Business Advisor Plan auto-renews at $49/mo after 30 days. The LegalZoom pricing page lists each tier's later charges.25, 37

Can you form a Minnesota LLC without a service?

Yes. The Secretary of State takes the Articles of Organization directly from owners, and you pay only the state fee. You can file online, by mail, or in person by appointment.31

Minnesota law also says an LLC "may have a registered agent," so an owner filing alone doesn't have to hire an agent, as long as the LLC keeps a registered office.4

What you give up is the preparation and any address service. With no agent, the Annual Renewal asks for the LLC's registered office address every year, so a home address used there goes to the state each time. A name reservation, if you want time to decide, is $35 by mail. The Minnesota formation steps walk through each field, and the cost calculator shows what a plan adds.14, 38

Minnesota LLC service questions

Does any LLC service include the Minnesota filing fee?

None of the compared plan prices includes it, so the totals add the state fee on top, $135 by mail or $155 online or in person. The totals on this page use the mail price, so Inc Authority's $135 is that fee with no service charge.1

What does a Minnesota LLC cost in year two with a service?

The state part is $0, so year two is the plan's renewal plus any agent renewal. Tailor Brands Elite shows $249 and ZenBusiness Premium shows $299, while one-time plans show nothing.2

Do I have to keep the registered agent a formation service includes?

No. Minnesota law says an LLC "may have a registered agent," as long as it keeps a registered office. Dropping it means filing a change with the state (the Minnesota formation guide names the form) and cancelling under the provider's terms. Check what the provider requires to cancel before its renewal charge.4

Can a service get my Minnesota LLC approved faster?

A service can prepare and submit sooner, but the state sets its own pace. Online filings are returned in 3 to 5 business days, and that speed is built into the higher online fee. The state doesn't publish a faster tier beyond that.14

Will a service file my Minnesota renewal for me?

Some plans include it. Tailor Brands Elite lists mandatory report filing, and ZenBusiness Premium lists state-required annual reports. Since the state charges nothing, a paid filing service covers only the provider's work.7, 10

Which service is cheapest for a Minnesota LLC?

Inc Authority has the lowest first-year total in the table, $135, and its second year shows $0, as one-time plans do. Its agent renews at $249/year after the first year unless cancelled. Northwest Registered Agent is next at $174.3
