Best LLC services in Michigan (2026)
Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.
Tailor Brands ranks first on our rating for a Michigan LLC, at 8.7 out of ten. Its Elite plan totals $299 in the first year with LARA's $50 filing fee and $274 in the second. Inc Authority has the lowest totals, $50 and then $25, which are state fees only, but its resident agent renews at $249/year once the free year ends. Michigan's yearly cost is a $25 Annual Statement, so most of the gap between providers here comes from plan and agent renewals.1, 2
How is the Michigan list ordered, and what do the totals include?
The table runs from the highest rating down. Ties keep our editorial order (Tailor Brands, Bizee (formerly Incfile), ZenBusiness, then alphabetical), which is why Bizee (formerly Incfile) sits above ZenBusiness at 8.0 and BizFilings above Rocket Lawyer at 6.8.
None of the rating's three parts (customer satisfaction, services and dashboard, plan value) changes from state to state. How we rate sets out the weights. What Michigan changes is the money in the two total columns.

Second year: the recurring Michigan report fee as the state lists it (some states charge it every two years) plus the plan's renewal, if it renews. Registered agent renewals are extra unless the plan includes the agent for good.
Michigan is one of the states where a second-year total can be worked out, because LARA publishes a single flat fee for the Annual Statement. A plan sold once, like Swyft Filings Standard or InCorp Services LLC Formation Service, therefore shows only $25 in year two. Plans billed every year carry their renewal into that column: ZenBusiness reaches $324, doola $322 and Rocket Lawyer $174. The doola figure repeats its first-year price, since doola's plan renews annually at rates then in effect and doola doesn't publish the renewal price.1, 3
Two Michigan rules can move that column for your company. The statement fee drops to $15.00 if paid after September 30, 2027, and an LLC formed/qualified after September 30 skips the February statement that falls right after it forms. Before state fees, plan cost across both years is $498 for Tailor Brands and $249 for LegalZoom; the ranking by plan cost over both years orders every provider on that basis.1, 4
Which Michigan LLC service fits which need?
The box gives one pick per need, each decided by the fact it names. The notes under it add what a one-line pick can't show for Michigan.
- Lowest first-year total in Michigan: Inc Authority, Free LLC, $50 with the state fee.
- Lowest two-year total in Michigan: Inc Authority, Free LLC, $75 over two years with state fees. Full list
- Fastest filing: Tailor Brands, 1 business day stated on Elite. Full list
- Best for first-time founders: Tailor Brands, all three supports included in a plan (annual report filing, coaching, AI guidance). Full list
- Best all-in-one platform: Tailor Brands, sells 9 of the 10 business service types we track, with an online dashboard. Full list
- Best for non-U.S. founders: Tailor Brands, highest-rated provider whose own pages say it serves founders outside the U.S. Full list
Each line is decided by the published fact it names. First-time founder support counts an annual report filed for you, business coaching and AI guidance; the all-in-one count is the business service types a provider sells nationally.
Lowest cost in both years
Inc Authority Free LLC comes to $50 in Michigan in year one and $25 in year two, the lowest pair on the list. That second figure assumes you stop its resident agent service after the free year. Left alone, the service renews automatically each year at $249/year. Kept on, that agent fee is many times the $25 statement fee Michigan charges each year.1, 2, 5
Michigan makes dropping the service cheap. Naming a new agent with Form CSCL/CD-520 costs $5, and an owner who qualifies as an individual resident in this state whose business office or residence is identical with the registered office can serve for the company. Northwest Registered Agent is next on first-year cost at $89, and its included registered agent renews at $125/yr after year 1. The Inc Authority profile and Northwest's pricing list the renewal terms.1, 6, 7, 8
Annual statement filed for you
The Michigan statement is short and cheap. It asks for the name of its resident agent and the address of its registered office in this state, and the fee is $25, due February 15 each year. Some plans file it as part of the price, and other providers charge per filing.1, 4, 9
- Tailor Brands Elite includes mandatory report filing.10
- ZenBusiness Premium covers state-required annual reports; sold alone it is Annual Report Filing $100 per report.11, 12
- Northwest Registered Agent charges $100 + state fees when it files.13
- InCorp Services lists $89 + state fees.14
- LegalZoom lists a one-time filing at $99 + state filing fees.15
A per-filing charge here costs several times the state fee itself. What it covers is the February deadline: the consequence Michigan publishes for missed statements is lost good standing, and our record confirms no separate late fee.
First-time founders
For a first company, we look for three kinds of help: the yearly state filing done for you, a person to coach you, and an AI assistant for setup questions. Tailor Brands includes all three supports in a plan, with report filing on its paid plans, its Business Coaching Program and Navi, its assistant (built into every plan). ZenBusiness also includes all three supports: report filing on Pro and Premium, Personal Velo AI guidance and a one-on-one consultation on Premium only. doola includes two of the three supports, with Annual State Report Filing on its higher plans and the AI Co-Founder assistant. The first-time founders list covers every provider.16, 17, 18, 19, 20
All-in-one platform
Some owners want the address, website, bookkeeping and legal paperwork from the same company that forms the LLC. Of the 10 service types we track, Tailor Brands sells 9, LegalZoom 9, Bizee (formerly Incfile) 7 and ZenBusiness 7. That count is national and includes paid add-ons, so check the plan columns for what is actually in the price. The all-in-one platforms list has the full order.
Fastest stated filing
Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness each state 1 business day on their compared plans, and Inc Authority states 24 hours. Those are the providers' own processing times, not LARA's review. LARA publishes no standard review time, so the state's part of the wait is open unless someone pays for review, starting at 24-hour $50 (formation). Bizee (formerly Incfile) lists Expedited Filing in its compared plan, and our record doesn't show whether that pays a LARA fee. The fastest services list and the LLC timeline guide separate the two clocks.21, 22
Resident agent included
Michigan law requires a resident agent at the registered office (MCL 450.4207). These plans supply one, mostly for a set period.7
- Bizee (formerly Incfile): Registered Agent (1st year included), then $149/year.22, 23
- Inc Authority: free for the first year, then $249/year.2
- Northwest Registered Agent: the included registered agent renews at $125/yr after year 1.8
- BizFilings: 3 months free, then $220/yr.24, 25
- doola: Registered Agent Service as part of a plan billed yearly.26
Tailor Brands sells the service at $199/year, and ZenBusiness offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form with it. The plans with an agent included are ranked by price.27, 28
Founders outside the U.S.
A founder living abroad can't be the Michigan resident agent, so someone else has to fill the role, often a paid service. Tailor Brands links a separate sign-up flow for non-US citizens from its formation page but publishes no eligibility details. LegalZoom describes forming an LLC with no Social Security number, residency, or travel required, doola's Starter includes a US business address and an agent, and Northwest Registered Agent charges $200 for an EIN without a Social Security number. See the non-U.S. founders list.29, 30, 31, 32
Which Michigan fees stay the same with any service?
LARA charges every filer the same $50 for the Articles of Organization, and our totals add it to every plan. Faster review, a name hold and the yearly statement are also paid to the state, whoever files.1
- Formation filing fee: $50
- Faster state processing: 24-hour $50 (formation); same day $100 (formation); 2-hour $500; 1-hour $1,000, on top of the filing fee
- Recurring report: due February 15 each year, starting the year after formation, $25
- Optional name reservation: $25 for six months
Michigan's rush pricing has an odd first step. The 24-hour $50 (formation) tier costs $50, the same as the filing fee, so asking for review within a day doubles the state's charge. The next tiers climb fast, from same day $100 (formation) to 1-hour $1,000, and each is added to the filing fee. Ask a service whether its rush option pays any of these or only speeds up its own preparation.21
Missing statements is the cost no service plan removes for you unless it files them. Our record confirms no late fee for Michigan LLCs; instead, after 2 consecutive missed years and 60 days after the administrator's notice, the LLC is not in good standing. Getting back takes a $50 Certificate of Restoration of Good Standing (Form 770/771) plus $25 for each missing annual statement.33, 34
Whose address goes public, and what bills after a trial?
The Annual Statement repeats the agent's name and the registered office every year, so with a service as agent, the service's address is the one on file.
Northwest Registered Agent, for example, says that Northwest's address is listed on public filings instead of the owner's. Tailor Brands adds that its agent address cannot be used as the business location in public materials, and it sells a separate Virtual Address product for owners who want a home address kept off public records.35, 36
Some first-year totals leave out items that bill later. Tailor Brands Elite includes a bookkeeping trial that costs $39/month afterwards. LegalZoom lists its Managed Service plan at a one-time price, and notes that its Business Advisor Plan auto-renews at $49/mo after 30 days, so the $25 second-year figure holds only if you cancel that plan. The LegalZoom pricing page and the ZenBusiness profile list each tier's later charges, and the package contents guide separates permanent items from trials.37, 38
Can you form a Michigan LLC without a service?
Yes. LARA takes the Articles of Organization (Form CSCL/CD-700) straight from owners through the MiBusiness Registry Portal, with a check or money order by mail, or in person at 2407 N Grand River Ave, Lansing, and you pay only the $50 fee.1, 39
Doing it yourself means picking the resident agent yourself, which can be you if you live in Michigan and the registered office is your home or business address. It also means remembering the statement each February. The Michigan LLC formation guide covers each filing in order, and the cost calculator shows what a plan adds in each year.
Michigan LLC service questions
Is the LARA filing fee included in a service's price?
Our totals treat the $50 Michigan fee as extra and add it to every plan, including plans with no service charge. Inc Authority's free plan is priced at $0 plus state fees, which is why its first-year total of $50 is the state fee and nothing more. Check each checkout for how the fee is collected.1, 40
Which LLC service costs least in Michigan across the first and second year?
Inc Authority Free LLC totals $50 in year one and $25 in year two, counting state fees. That holds only if you cancel its resident agent before it renews at $249/year. Naming a different agent in Michigan costs $5.1, 2
Will a formation service file my Michigan annual statement?
Some plans include it. Tailor Brands Elite lists mandatory report filing and ZenBusiness Premium covers state-required annual reports. Northwest Registered Agent charges $100 + state fees per filing, against a state fee of $25.1, 10, 11, 13
Can a service get my Michigan LLC approved faster?
A service's stated speed covers its own preparation. LARA's faster review starts at 24-hour $50 (formation) and is paid to the state on top of the filing fee, so ask whether a plan's rush option includes that fee.21
Do I need a resident agent service in Michigan?
Not if you qualify yourself. The agent must be an individual resident in this state whose business office or residence is identical with the registered office, or a company authorized in Michigan with its office at that address. Owners living outside the state need someone who meets that rule, which is where a service fits.7
Does the Michigan list change if I form late in the year?
The order stays the same, because the rating doesn't depend on the date. An LLC formed/qualified after September 30 skips the statement due the following February, so its second calendar year may carry no state fee. The plan renewals in the table still apply. Compare totals for your own timing in the state fees table.4
